Drilling Specialties

Foamtech has your drilling chemical needs covered.  From mud foam to mud sweetener to pipe free, we have what you need.  Generally, these products are available in drums.  If packaged in 5 gallon buckets, there is a bucket charge unless noted below.  Most are also available in 330 gallon totes upon request.

Products Available:

Blue Stuff Cleaner/Degreaser

Blue Stuff is a concentrated cleaner/degreaser effective for removing light to moderate dirt, grease and oil from drilling rigs and equipment and production equipment.

Click here for the MSDS and here for more information.

Red Stuff Cleaner/Degreaser

Red Stuff is a concentrated cleaner/degreaser effective for removing more stubborn dirt, grease and oil.  It is stronger and harsher than Blue Stuff.

Corrosion Foamer

FT-20CA is intended to reduce the hydrostatic pressure of fluids on the formation while drilling.  It also helps prevent oxygen corrosion associated with air drilling.

Recommended use depends upon the quality or density of foam desired.  One to three gallons per ten barrels of water used is normal.  Field testing is necessary to determine appropriate amounts.

Acid Foamer

FT-20ACID is intended to reduce the hydrostatic pressure of fluids on the formation while drilling and remove calcium carbonate and iron sulfide from the well enhancing production.

Recommended use depends upon the quality or density of foam desired.  One to four gallons per day is not uncommon depending upon scale and water production.  Field testing is necessary to determine appropriate amounts.

Corrosion/Scale Foamer

FT-1000CS is used to reduce the hydrostatic pressure of fluids on the formation while protecting the well from scale accumulation and corrosion damage.

Recommended use depends upon the quality or density of foam desired.  Four to twenty gallons per day in normal depending upon scale and water production.  Field testing is necessary to determine appropriate amounts.

Corrosion Inhibitor

FT-5000 Corrosion Inhibitor is used to prevent the corrosive action of the corrosive gases and liquids upon the ferrous goods in the well and pumping equipment.  The product lays down a film preventing contact with the corrosive gases and liquids encountered during air drilling.

Recommended usage is one to five gallons at the start of the day with an additional one to five gallons at the end of the day shift.

KCl Substitute

FT-6022 is used to achieve a more uniform mixture than regular potassium chloride crystals.  FT-6022 functions as an ion exchanger helping to prevent formation swelling and fines migration and is synergistic with clay stabilizers.

Recommended use is one gallon per 1,000 gallons of water.  Supplemental treatment once a day using one gallon per 1,000  is recommended assuming the water is reused.

Friction Reducer

FT-6023 reduces friction pressure associated with air drilling, becoming more and more important with greater depth.  Reduction of drilling pressure allows greater flow for removal of fines.  Additionally, pressures are prevented from exceeding the frac gradient causing lost circulation to a weak formation.

Recommended use is one gallon per 1,000 gallons of fluid initially.  Add more as pressures begin to rise.  Mix thoroughly in tanks prior to using.  Assuming water is reused, supplemental use may be needed every six to eight hours of drilling.

Clay Stabilizer

FT-6045 is used to prevent the swelling and migration of clay fines in the formation reducing formation damage and blockage of production capillaries.  Additional benefits include preventing of tight spots due to swelling, reduction of water loss during drilling and assistance with friction loss.

Recommended use is an initial treatment of one to five gallons per 1,000 gallons of water used.  Supplemental treatment of one gallon per 1,000 every six to eight hours of drilling is recommended, assuming water is reused.
